What is TarCoin?

Special item

“A mysterious currency that appeared in Tarkov after the Contract Wars had already begun. The motto stamped on the coin refers to a certain well-known company... A rare item, prized by everyone without exception.”

— In-game description

TarCoin is a special token that BSG quietly added to the game in spring 2026, without a word in the patch notes — players simply started finding strange coins in their raids. A few months later the mystery was solved: TarCoin turned out to be the currency of the Expansion Hub, a separate economy alongside roubles, dollars and euros.

Key facts

  • Classified as a valuable and takes a single 1×1 slot in raid. With a base price of over 100,000₽ it is one of the most expensive items in the game per slot.
  • Extremely rare in-raid spawn: look behind locked doors, first of all in marked rooms.
  • Cannot be sold on the flea market: found-in-raid coins used to be listable, but ahead of the Expansion Hub launch BSG delisted all offers and returned the coins to their owners' stashes.
  • A currency of its own with a separate account balance: once the Expansion Hub is live, coins no longer take up stash space — the ones stored there are converted automatically, and every coin you extract is credited to your balance right away.

What is it for?

TarCoins are spent in the Expansion Hub — the in-game storefront BSG is launching in July 2026. Coins can be bought in bundles for real money, but the ones you bring out of raids feed the same balance. What's on the shelves:

  • stash expansions
  • account upgrades
  • apparel for your characters
  • character voices
  • access to the PvE Zone

Tarkov-Market tips

  • Don't vendor it to traders — the rouble price doesn't come close to what the coin is worth in the Hub.
  • No need to hoard coins in your stash: everything stored there gets converted automatically at the Hub launch, and after it every extracted coin lands on your balance right away.
  • Got a marked room key? Check the room every raid — a single coin pays for the key many times over.
